Take part in Bosham Classic Boat Revival by entering before 20th June 2011

Bosham Sailing Club is hosting the first Classic Boat Revival later this month, with the hopes of becoming the largest meet of classic day boats and dinghies in the country.

The event will include six races over two days with committee boat starts in nearby Chichester Harbour and a Concours D’Elegance.

Interest from across the country has already been registered, with entries coming from as far as Cumbria, Kent, Gloucestershire and Devon.

BSC members will offer a limited amount of free accommodation for visiting sailors.

Organisers hope the event will become an annual sailing event for smaller classics. “Think Goodwood Festival of Speed meets Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, only a lot cheaper and more fun,” a spokesperson said.

Entries are hoped to include 505, Albacore, Devon Yawl, Firefly, Fairy Falcon, Graduate, GP14, Hornet, International Canoe, International 14, Jollyboat, Merlin Rocket, Moth, National 18, Chichester Harbour 18, Osprey, Redwing, Scow, Snipe, Sharpie, Solos, Tideway, Torbay Minnow, YW Dayboat, and other similar ‘classic’ dinghy classes with a maximum length of 20 feet.

The event will include supper on Friday accompanied by live jazz. On Saturday there will be a regatta party, with a live band providing music during supper.

It costs just £20 per boat to enter by 20 June. After then late entries will cost £25 and allocated at the discretion of organisers.
