Britain is expecting more severe weather this weekend as Storm Brigid makes its way across the Atlantic

A heavy storm headed
for the UK is expected to bring winds of up to 150mph, rain and snow to our
shores tonight.

Storm Brigid is
currently gathering pace across the Atlantic and could bring severe weather
conditions to Britain for at least three days.

Weather experts are predicting
several inches of rain to fall in a matter of hours over the weekend.

Some parts of England
have already experienced the wettest January since records began.

The south west of
England is set to be the worst affected by the storm with the Met Office
issuing amber weather warnings across the region for torrential rain and high
winds until Sunday.

The public are being
warned that there is a risk of a flooding across the UK as a result of Storm
Brigid.

Elsewhere in the
country, London and the south east have been issued with yellow weather
warnings, while the north west of England faces snow, heavy rain and gale force
winds.

Met Office chief forecast Frank Saunders said: “As another deep area of
low pressure moves in from the Atlantic on Friday, it will bring heavy rain and
gale force winds to much of the UK.

“20-30mm of rain is likely during this period, possibly exacerbating the current flooding situation.”
